Q: Do you have some common sense tips for protecting laptops from being lost?
A: * Don´t leave a laptop in an unlocked vehicle, even if the vehicle is in your driveway or garage. And even if the car is locked, don4t leave the PC in plain sight. If you must leave the PC in the car, place it in the locked trunk.
* Carry your laptop in a non-descript carrying case. Putting it in a case specifically designed for laptops alerts thieves of what you are carrying.
* Never leave your laptop in an unlocked office or conference room. Take it with you when you head to lunch or meetings.
* Get a lock or other device that will allow you to secure the laptop to a desk or other furniture.
* Be aware that if your notebook is stolen, automatic logins and stored passwords make it easy for the thief to access your sensitive information.
* Back up your data frequently to external drives (network, USB)
* Never check a laptop PC as luggage when you are flying.
* Set strong passwords at the BIOS, Harddisk, and Logging levels (see your laptop4s user manual).

Q: When I connect to AUBwlan, I cannot establish peer-to-peer data communication?
A: Blocking Peer-to-Peer wireless data communication (for direct file sharing for example) while connected to AUBwlan is a best-practice security measure enforced by CNS to protect your computing device from its surrounding.

If you need to share files with your peers you can always use the e-mail or the file sharing service (link below).
