| | Q: Can I use my Pocket-PC/PDA/Smart-Phone to connect to AUB services over AUB wireless network? | |
| | A: Yes. Any device that supports IEEE802.11b/g and IEEE802.1x WPAv2/PEAP standards should be able to connect to AUBdot1x wireless service on campus. AUB has successfully tested: iPhone 2.0 or higher, Nokia 9500/9300i Symbian 8 and higher, Windows 2003 CE/windows mobile 5.0/6.0 or higher.
Note that even though above devices do operate over AUB wireless network, AUBwlan support desks can NOT assist you with their configuration (CNS has published user guides for most common phones in the market today at the URL below).

| | Q: What is the difference between AUBdot1x, AUBwlan, AUBsubscription and AUBguests wireless services? | |
| | A: AUBdot1x: is the default wireless service currently at AUB and AUBMC and should be used by all students, faculty and staff. It is based on strong authentication and encryption mechanisms.
AUBwlan: is the old wireless service which still connects AUB.AUBMC users who use IPsec VPN clients. New users should use AUBdot1x.
AUBsubscription: is a special network service broadcasted only to enable intial subscription to AUBdot1x or AUBwlan services.
AUBguests: is a special on-demand network service to allow short term (1-2 days) visitors and guests to use AUB wireless service without subscribing to any of AUBdot1x or AUBwlan. AUB users (students, faculty and staff) should not be using this wireless service.

| | Q: When I scan for wireless networks, I sometimes see strange network names in addition to AUBwlan and AUBdot1x, what are these? | |
| | A: Since the Wi-Fi technology uses the ISM unlicensed band, many enterprises/persons around AUB/AUBMC can use the same, and their networks´ broadcast can sometimes reach within campus peripheries.
You should strictly aviod connecting to those networks even if there name might start with "AUB". You should make sure that you connect only to AUBwlan (old subscribers) or AUBdot1x (new subscribers).
